Prep & Aftercare

Lash Extensions

Prep

  • To maximize your time with your lash artist, come to your appointment with clean eyes & free of makeup.

  • Avoid using waterproof mascara 2-3 days prior as it can leave a residue that may prevent lashes from adhering properly.

  • Avoid using any products that contain oil on your forehead and eye area prior to your appointment. Oil's will create a barrier, causing the lashes & adhesive unable to adhere properly.

  • If you have lash extensions currently from another salon you will need to book an appointment for a full removal and then book a full set for at least 48 hours after your lashes were removed. Our remover is solvent based and the lashes will not adhere properly if we apply a full set on the same day as a removal.

  • Do not wear contacts to your lash appointment. They can be reinserted right after your application.

  • Brides: We suggest that you get your full set of lash extensions applied a minimum of a month ahead of time and then schedule one to two touch up appointments before your wedding so that adjustments can be made and you get the exact look you want for your big day. Please don’t get extensions put on for the first time right before your wedding in case they are not exactly what you are envisioning or in case you have any type of allergic reaction!

  • Lash Tinting or Lash Perming — should be done 48 hrs prior to your lash extensions.

  • Airbrush/Spray Tanning is recommended 1-2 days prior & or 3 days after your lash application.

  • Please do NOT consume any caffeine before your appointment. This will cause your lashes to move and make it extremely difficult for your lash artist to apply lashes. Remember, lash naps are Free at MegaLash Studio! :)

Aftercare

  • Do not get your lash extensions wet for 12 hours.

  • Avoid hot showers (with steam), saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga or tanning beds for 24 hours.

  • Daily Cleansing to remove dirt and oil is highly recommended. Although your lashes are water-resistant, it is important to stay away from heavy facial moisturizers and night creams as they can loosen the adhesive.

  • Do not curl your lashes extensions.

  • Do not use mascara on your lash extensions.

  • Use *oil free* products on your forehead to cheekbone while wearing lash extensions. This includes make up setting spray. Please avoid spraying directly onto your lash extensions. This will help retention tremendously!

  • Do not pull or pick at your lashes.

  • Sleep on your back or side.

  • Brush lashes gently as needed with the styling wand provided to you after your appointment.

  • Rinse your lashes as quickly as possible after crying, sweating or being exposed to salt water to avoid salt build-up.

  • To prevent damage to your eyelash extensions, care should be taken when receiving any of the following procedures: Strong chemical peels or skin resurfacing procedure that come in direct contact with the eye areas. Also facial treatments and facial massages that include direct contact with the eye area and eyelash extensions. Always inform your esthetician or medical provider that you are wearing eyelash extensions before any facial procedure begins.

Brow/Facial Waxing

  • You must discontinue retinol one week prior to your wax appointment otherwise your skin can lift with the wax.

  • Try to not pluck or tweeze at least 3 weeks prior to your brow mapping/shaping appointment with us. The more we have to work with, the better! Full brows are IN!

Aftercare

  • Keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24-48 hours.

  • Avoid tanning beds and sun the first 24-48 hours. The outer layer of skin has been stripped which makes it very sensitive to sun exposure.

  • Avoid swimming in the ocean or pools the first 24-48 hours as the salt and chlorine can be harsh on your newly waxed skin.

  • Avoid touching the waxed area and if you must make sure your hands are clean.

  • You may experience some slight soreness, small bumps, and redness. This is common and should subside in 24-48 hours.
